+ CONTROLLED. She was conditioned to be the ultimate assassin and that tight control is ever-present. It's rare for her to show emotions that she doesn't want to show, but that doesn't make her emotionless or without a sense of humor, dry and dark as it may be. There are few people she chooses to let the mask down for in a more permanent way, because she doesn't trust many people to have that insight into who she really is.
+ DETERMINED. Though she's willing to take in new information and allow it to change her opinions and views, she refuses to be stopped when she views something as necessary. She will risk life and limb to achieve what she sets out to do, whether it's covering someone she's protecting with her own body or racing Clint off of a cliff to make sure he comes back from Vormir.
+ BRAVE. Natasha is not without fears. They're revealed in subtle ways, like her distress at realizing she's been following orders from a compromised SHIELD. We see this and know that it's one of her very personal fears coming out. Bravery is never the lack of fear, but the willingness to confront it and Natasha is never seen to run away out of fear. Even her fear of the Hulk when she first meets Bruce is something she overcomes in time.
- CHAMELEON. She's been trained to become what a situation requires and even now she often uses that tactic as a means of survival. Even after coming to SHIELD, she still doesn't know who she is in a lot of ways and she fills that with her ability to be what she thinks she should be and in many ways, she's still learning to make decisions that are truly for her. Steve even points that out and she doesn't disagree with him that it doesn't leave her in a great position to let people in.
- DISLOYAL. Natasha isn't a duplicitous person by nature. She doesn't lie just for profit or self gain, but she's lived a life of betrayals. Trained in the Red Room from a young age, she'd eventually seen them as the wrong side and turned on them to join SHIELD. When SHIELD is compromised, she's ready to fight anyone loyal to it. She loves Bruce but has no remorse for forcing him into a fight he's stated he wants no more part in and later when the Avengers are split over the Sokovia Accords, Natasha turns on the side she's on mid-battle. She had friends on both sides of the conflict and while she cares very much for them, her switching sides doesn't come from a place of friendship. She allows her worldview to change with new information, but stays loyal only to what she believes is right.
- SELF-SABOTAGING. There are times when Natasha is on the cusp of letting herself have the things she hadn't allowed herself to want. She was clearly in love with Bruce and not just amusing herself. She allowed herself a level of vulnerability with him that she hasn't with many people, even admitting that she's doubted her value and purpose with the Avengers, but when push comes to shove, she dives back into the fight against Ultron. While the argument could be made that she was doing the right thing or completing the mission as she put it, ultimately she forces his hand rather than using any form of healthy communication. There had been other avenues to explore to get the outcome she'd wanted, but she'd chosen the most nuclear one. In truth, she doesn't allow herself to take a real leadership role in anything until after Thanos snaps away half the world's population and her keeping the Avengers (or what's left of them) together is more an act of painful desperation for her than a self-actualization.
